What is a Class?

The term class originates from a specific field of computer science: object-oriented programming. A class describes what in the context of data-driven generative design is called an idea in the words of Plato. An object is a specific instance arising from the class in the Platonic sense world. An infinite number of objects can be generated from a single class.
