An interactive and generative collage which invites the viewer to playfully engage with selected fragments of the concepts of communication.

This collage is based on the film “A Communications Primer” by the designer couple Charles and Ray Eames. In this film, the elementary components of communication are explained in a model-like manner and, among other things, placed in the context of the inner workings of the computer, which was a novel concept at the time.

In an analogy to the film, which breaks down the elements of communication into their individual components in order to provide the viewer with a new perspective on a subject, this collage breaks down the film into its elementary components, i.e. image, sound and text over time. These fragments are generatively assembled in collaged form through the interaction of the user, thus creating a new perspective on the content of this timeless film from a contemporary, digital point of view.
